About Us

The Curtis Middle School STEM Lab opened in the Fall of 2015.  With the support of our county and district offices, as well as strong, established partnerships, the STEM Lab has grown in both equipment and rigor.  The STEM Lab services the STEM/Engineering Pathway and the Year 1 and Year 2 students in the program.  Students in the program come from a variety of feeder elementary schools, with or without STEM experience.  Some students participated in the iSTEAM Lab at Bing Wong Elementary as part of the K-12 STEM Pathway that includes Bing Wong, this STEM Program, and Indian Springs High School's Machining and Design Pathways.

The classroom has 2 Stratasys uPrint 3D printers, 4 Replicator+ 3D printers, a Universal Laser System, 2 Roland Benchmills, an Intelitek CNC Mill, an Intelitek CNC lathe, a manual lathe, and various power tools.  Students utilize Dell computers to run Solidworks CAD software and CorelDRAW drafting software among other computer-based applications.  In 2023, Dobot Robotics, Roland Versaworks and BT-20A Vinyl Cutter/Heat Press, Sphero, CoSpaces, App Development, DTG printers, and Formech Vacuum forming, Vex Robotics, and Infento Robotics were added to an expanded STEM Machine Room.

The class serves as a state model for a K-12 Linked Learning Pathway and is pursuing Linked Learning Middle School Pathway Certification which is currently in the pilot stage.  The teacher, Mr. Petriccione, is a San Bernardino City Unified School District Demonstration Teacher that supports professional development in the school district as well as presents throughout California.  The classroom does allow visitors to see the program.  If you would like to schedule a visit or if you have any questions about the program, please Contact Us.
